grassIf you have been keeping up with your compost pile all season,  now is a good time to fill in some of those bare spots in your lawn.  The Compost has had a good amount of time and moisture to break down by now.  With the amount of rain we have had and the hot days,  your pile should be producing quality nutrient rich compost.  Fill in some bare spots and watch them fill in with new grass.

If you know it is going to rain, set your irrigation timer to “rain delay” .  This will prevent your garden and lawn from becoming over watered.  Too much water can do harm just like not enough water.  After the “rain delay” time is up your timer should resume normal watering schedules.

grassMany people mow their lawn too low here in South Carolina.  This can cause problems for the grass.  The grass can burn out or become more susceptible to disease.  Make sure you are mowing high enough for your grass type.  Also, don’t forget to have you mower blade sharpened each season.
